Hello Neli,I think I may have referenced it in my backbends class. There is also a part 2 to that. I dont love teaching drops online because there is a small risk for injury if not done carefully. I would however love to teach you in our next private class together.

Hi Laura , More or less, yes. Golden Era dance would be considered Raqs Sharqi. Oriental is a bit more modern of a label given to the dance but is frequently used in Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey among other countries. They may be used interchangeable for sure. I don't think I would call Golden Era Oriental, but I would call it Raqs Sharqi. Again, these terms and how they are used is a bit ambiguous and I am sorry for that. Even my Egyptian teachers I asked have differing opinions on the matter. Golden Era is more of a western term for that specific genre. You got me thinking now and if i get some time I will try to write a blog helping to clarify.
