Sometimes it is just a matter of repetition to get your body used to moving in new ways. It sounds like you are wanting to increase lateral pelvic tilt. One interesting exercise you can try is to sit on the floor, legs out in front of you. Lift your hip bone up by using the obliques, then move the hip forward and sit the pelvis back down on the floor, try the same on the other side so you are inching your way forward by lifting and reposition one hip at a time.
