Well, many things but that usually means you are replacing strength with speed. The controlled shimmy requires the stamina and muscles of the legs to keep it consistent. Try incorporating some strength training to build up the leg muscles and I guarantee you will see a big difference.

Hello Liona, Do you mean to bend the knees? I always have a very soft bend in the knees when I dance. I would never lock my knee out. I have a video here on Raqs that talks about posture and just how much to bend the knees. Just enough for the range of motion but do not lose any height.
