Thanks for your perspective Dana. This is interesting and I will bring it up to my musician friends. I have studied Tabla/Darbuka with Syrians, Moroccans and Egyptians, and all my dance teachers, including many Egyptians, refer to this part of theย improvisational solo and the accompaniment of the dancer as Taqsim. Maybe the word has evolved to mean this in the music/dance world, which is not uncommon. On a side note I have started taking Egyptian Arabic classes so hopefully I can do better with understanding the meaning and context of words.

Hi Camelia, In the classes we do end up drilling moves for a longer period of time. My advice would be to only hinge at the hips about 45-90 degrees rather than all the way down. Then you can sprinkle in the full drop occasionally. Unfortunately there are not many great solutions for dizziness or vertigo unless you want to take something like dramamine before a practice. Some people notice there are more sensitive to dizziness and vertigo at certain times in their cycle. You could track that for yourself. For natural solutions, ginger is known to help as well as magnets or pressure point bands-you wear at the point of the inner wrist. The good news is if you plan to perform the move in a choreography, you will only do it once or twice so you shouldn't get so dizzy. Good luck!
