Hi Dana , I see what you are saying. I think it is all about how we frame and conceptualize the move. It seems you are framing it by actions. But historically it has been named by the full shift of weight. For example R,L,R, then you hold or touch the L as a hold but not an actual shift of weight. I hope that makes sense. You are correct there will be just one complete tun in that 3 step format. This move is also seen in other dance forms and is also referred to as the 3 step turn for example in Jazz. Which is where I originally learned it. My dance teachers have also all referred to it as a 3 step. My goal is to preserve the most commonly used dance vocabulary to create the least amount of confusion. That being said, I enjoy hearing and learning how others conceptualize and frame dance int their mind. Thanks for sharing.
